That's in Stu Rackham's car he raced in Palmy last week? Total opposite of how NZ superstocks went for him

Vickery 3 from 3. So far not much itentional hitting to help mates qualify. From heat one you knew you were toast. Help mates. 3/3 Good on him, but what a joke. This should not bloody happen in stockcars.. All of the cars carrying a NZ number seemed to get through pretty much untouched, not what you expect

Four of those races were epic 3rd heats in my eyes. Hard luck goes to forth in yellow group. 99s passed i would say 12 plus cars on a red light heat 1 race one. But thats racing i guess. My driver of the night mike mac. Smash the p :-) bloody awesome to watch.

As a spectator I had no idea what the points were going into the third heat and have no idea if the drivers did, but when there is a repechage where the top three will qualify the following day if I was possibly going to be one of the 60 to make the repechage I'd be still thinking of my own chances rather than improving someone else's.

I was frustrated by that too. When the results were given (and they were very delayed) we were only provided with the top ten finishers in each race. I know there were a number of protests and that they were not given to MeeaneeMic so they were unable to keep the public informed. I found that the races ran so thick and fast that there was not time to duck down to check the provisional results when they were posted if I was to keep track of those that started each race and those that were DNSs. Lucky there was this uplift in speed as as at Meeanee the meeting can seem to drift along without too much haste. After the first round of heats I was genuinely expecting the night to finish up at about 1.00am fortunately things picked up and we were done by about 12.15. I suppose it did not help having an inordinate number of red lights, some races had three or four of them and most had at lest two so that does slow things up. Full credit to the people involved in keeping the turn around between races to a bare minimum. In reality 230, or thereabouts, cars is simply too much if you want to get qualifying over inside of three and a half hours but every licenced driver has the right to compete so there is little that can be done to limit entries. Like others have hinted perhaps the qualifying should have started about 5.00pm as even allowing for six hours at least 11.00pm finishing is not as bad as finishing after midnight. The only problem with that though would be the effect of the hot weather and sunshine would have on the racing surface as water does tend to evaporate rather quickly in the HB weather. I would not be surprised that even the stockcar tragics would have struggled watching 24 races, especially as there was no time to think about and digest what happened in a race before the next one was upon us, much less contemplating what might happen in the next heat of each group. Not having the points situation (an again no finger pointing of the announcers intended here) made things a bit tough. Having said that it was pretty clear that there were about six or seven cars in each group that were quicker than the rest so you could sort of get an idea on who was up nearer the pointy end of the points table, just not the exact situation. Right my ramble over and I suppose too much racing is infinitely preferable to none at all that we had to put up with during the Covid19 shutdown earlier this year. Does anyone have conformation of what time the meeting proper gets underway tonight. (Th PA did say repechages at 6.00pm and the remainder of the meeting starting at 7.00 but with the length of last nights meeting perhaps the meeting proper might have been brouight forward after reflecting of that? Just as well there no runoffs required!

Pretty sure 6.00pm is the first of the repercharges Higgins. Grand Parade is at 6.45pm, which is when I presume they will do grid draws for the top 30.

Moist a shout out to meeanee speedway for the amazing organisation from a competitor perspective.
Such a great effort from the club here.
And awesome club spirit - how many clubs can call on their former 1nz superstocks to be drivers reps on the night? Talk about amazing ambassadors for the sport from a competitor stand point.
All of the volunteers have had an amazing attitude.
Looking forward to tonight - all done Meeanee speedway!

Agree wholeheartedly Obby; having Jason Long as group rep was a real boost for the drivers in the Blue Group, especially the younger drivers. And behind the scenes, in the pits etc, the organisation couldn't be faulted. Whilst there has been a bit of criticism of some aspects of the on-track organisation, all in all, the club did an awesome job. I had a chat with Stu Russell before the meeting last night and he told me that he was in the box on his own, with Mike Wilson doing pit interviews. At the NZ Supers last year, I had Ramjam in the box with me, specifically assigned to doing placings, points and grids. Six hours is a long time to be on your own in the box, and calling 24 races, plus getting points, placings etc out is a massive ask for one person to do. I hope that Stu gets some extra support tonight, as the workload he was being asked to carry last night was too much for one person on a night as big as last night was. Stu's a trooper, and did everything he could.

An extremely well stated post Higgins. Yes, after Rd 1 it was looking like about a 1am finish, especially if the expected run-offs occurred. Rd 2 ran extremely quickly before Rd 3 had an influx of red lights and slowed progress down again. Considering the late finish at many Meeanee meetings in the past, I think 12.15 was a pretty good effort all round for 24 Stockcar races with 27-28 cars per race.
The lack of points was extremely frustrating to all, and while you don't blame the announcers - I do agree they should not need to go chasing official results, they should be delivered to them at operation warp speed after every race - if the results don't arrive within a certain length of time they do have a duty to go chasing and find out why. Any information is good information. Sadly many tracks have no effective systems in place for delivering all relevant information to their announcers. From what it appeared over the stream, they made little or no attempt to get that vital information when it wasn't forthcoming. Other than that, and despite their technical issues, I thought they did a great job. They said at the end of the night that tonight the information will flow in a way the fans can follow better, and that will certainly be appreciated by those at the track and those watching on the stream. I think there was only two of them? They really could have done with an extra set of legs last night.

So did the top 24 draw their grids for the finals last night, or not? One commentator thought they were all drawing them together tonight after the two Repechages, while the other thought the top 24 were drawing their grids last night with only the final six to come after the Repechages. To draw, record and input into the computer system all 30 tonight is just creating extra work in a restricted space of time. Even the six Repechage placegetters can be pre-entered and just awaiting a name and number. Looking forward to a better information flow tonight, and many many Stockcars upside down.
