Don't mind at all considering you have the Rotorua Rebels next weekend which I'm gutted about as I have to cross the ditch. Hopefully the rest of the team will come down as well?. Whats bringing you to this side of the ditch?? or are you talking Australia??? Talking Aussie ditch here............ going to bring some mates down to Huntly and intro them to Modifieds and SuperStocks and hopefully they will get hooked on them??

Hi just a quick question about the 35a car is a Mazda R100?. If so did you run a 10a in it?.
It was a R100 running a 12A, John Le-Fevre the previous driver won the Australian Saloon Car Championship in it in 1977 at Waikaraka Park. The car was owned by Kevin Elmsly the Service Manager for Gulf Mazda North Shore who I purchased it off. I believe the car held the lap record at Waikaraka for 6 years, cheers.
[/p]
Very cool any idea where the car is now??

If the underlining decision is to use Mt Smart and if the grandstand needs to be replaced would it not be better to use that money to make the changes at number 1 grounds at Mt Smart?. When will people realise it was never going to to be No1 ground at Mt Smart : Its not about realizing its about demanding it as Baypark & Plamy have mixed codes utilizing the same arena and would make it a more financial reasoning for it to be No1 if they looked at these 2 clubs before it going to No2 ground. We have to look at it as ok WS & WP leave their current homes and we the speedway fraternity now have to rally to demand it go around No1 ground because all the seating and Facilities are all there. This would maximize the venue being used as the biggest problems with these big white elephants is if you had it as your own business would you accept the venue ( stadium ) being used 16 days out of 365 to try and cover operating expenses??. I'm sure you wouldn't and this is why its should be No1 because you could add another 32 meetings across the speedway season if you were to factor WS & WP running there.

The Council should be footing the bill to erect not just 1 temp grandstand in front of old one but should be looking at other possible places to make sure that WP promoter and punters get some decent vantage points as the grandstand was wick for this!!!! I wonder how feasible it is to have one in turn 3 as long as the council opened the cricket grounds up for the lost of pit space for the racers. This is very poor judgment by the council to do this 4 weeks into a new season or is it as posts above its sabotage and they have known for a long time???.... Mt Smart stadium here we come and I just hope that they get this project underway ready for the 2015 / 2016 season and that the 2 promoters start working together to have both fan bases totally behind them and fully support for all classes racing on any given night?. I think it would be awesome watching the variety of classes from both promoters??? Superstocks , Sprintcars, Modifieds, Midgets etc I would be in heaven!!!.
I hope its the number 1 ground they go with as its just the track, fencing and access they would need to work on and a great sealed pit area??

How many drivers that finish their time in ministocks at WP leave WP because the next class they want to move to is not available and they don't want to go straight into a stockcar or saloon?. How leave the sport completely?. I know Huntly runs production saloon class which yes its not the spectacle like Stocks / saloons, however its another feeder class which is cheaper than a 6 shooter or mini sprint and this gives the young racers a future decision to choose not contact class or contact class to go race in!!

Why cant Waikaraka run a Sunday afternoon meeting every 3 weeks or something where they run the feeder classes in an effort to boost the Auckland driver base? We all know as Spectators that you go on a Saturday night and pay your hard earned money to get thru the gates, you dont want to have to sit thru too many of the feeder classes racing. But these classes need somewhere to race. Take Minisprints for example, Contracted to Waikaraka, perfect feeder class for Modifieds and even SuperSaloons, but not really a Stockcar fans cup of tea to watch. Minisprints have been told that they are not on the program unless they can come forward with at least 8 - 10 cars and then they might get fitted in somewhere, but half of that field would have to travel from out of town. So how are you suppossed to grow a class and entice new people into a class that dosnt get any runs at their local track and always has to travel at least an hour to race? I personally think that there would be alot of Ministock drivers who parents would consider a move into a class like minisprints after their time is up in ministocks but get discouraged by the lack of local track time. Anyway, every 3 or so weeks, run a Sunday arvo meeting. Ministocks, Minisprints, production Saloons, Six Shooters, Streetstocks. Give these classes some decent local track time during the season and watch the interest grow. Everyone wins, the drivers of the feeder classes get more track time and the paying punter gets what they want on a Saturday night, A full field of Stockcars, a dozen saloons, 6 Mods and 4 Superstocks. This could potentially work and the weather plays its part as well if the track was in good condition from Saturdays nights racing there wouldn't be much prep work?. You could also extend the invitation to guys that travel down to Meremere and race as I understand they sometimes race at WP?. I guess it comes down to the promoter and the powers to be of the club and what the costs are to run the Sunday meet?. Would the racers be up for running on a Sunday?.
