Our thoughts go out to the Barry Family. Even though I have been involved with speedway a long time, have only met Peter twice - very nice guy, shame I never got to race with you. Stockcar races at Meanee will never be the same. Jayson, Ange, Trent & Jordan, Otane (Central Hawkes Bay)

Deeply saddened ,shocked and still disbelief at the news of peters passing away. Very highly respected club mate and team mate who gave his all on the track, speedway will be be a much lesser place without Pete there, for me it wont be the same not having his presence on the track or off it . Nobody has made such an impact on the sport in such a short space of time from novice to legend in less than three years. You will be sorely missed by family ,fans ,and fellow competitors. To Mrs B,Olivia,Robert,Sam and 71b nurse Donna my heart goes out to you all,if there is anything we can do please call. Rest In Peace Peter Barry 71b,17b,83b,87b,26k stock car From the Hingston family Keith Hingston 7b and 83b stock car

Very sad finale to a great teams champs, strength and wishes to the families all involved.
Kind of puts the "we hate palmy" into perspective, when you go racing you go with thoughts of injuries maybe, not thinking they can be fatal.

Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, May looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

Many people suggest things happen for a reason. There are times I struggle with that and this is one of them.
Petes initials are PB. In athletics and swimming etc PB is personal best. Pete seemed to operate at his best most times out. We all applaud his efforts.
Interesting to note, some other motorsport PB's that left us early are Possum Bourne and Peter Brock
Thoughts and best wishes to all.

Everyone who goes to speedway to watch wants to see hard hitting stockcar action. When this kind of thing happens it makes the hits and hard racing so real and shows how easily it can all go wrong. As an ex racer these dangers jus get left on the trailer when you get belted into that car and all you want to do is go out there and have a ball. Pete was the true example of someone who really had a luv for the sport and to be a successful racer you have to have your family rite behind you supporting you all the way. When this happens it is the family who must ask why. Sorry for your loss and try be strong.
Peter, Theresa ex 57a stockcar
